เมื่อเวลา09.30น.วันนี้ 2 ม.ค.66 ผู้สื่อข่าวจังหวัดปราจีนบุรีรายงานว่าได้รับแจ้งจากชาวบ้านพบเห็นช้างป่าจากเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาอ่างฤาไน จ.ฉะเชิงเทรา บุกข้ามฝั่งมาหากินไกล ถึง จ.ปราจีนบุรี โดยกำลังเดินอยู่บนถนนบ้านโคกป่าแพง-บ้านโนน หมู่ 8 ต.กบินทร์ อ.กบินทร์บุรี จ.ปราจีนบุรี
จึงลงพื้นที่ตรวจสอบพบกับกลุ่มชาวบ้านและเจ้าหน้าที่ อบต.กำนัน-ผู้ใหญ่บ้าน กำลังช่วยกัน ออกติดตามช้างป่าที่เดินลัดเลาะข้างหมู่บ้าน
โดย ช้างป่าตัวดังกล่าวหนีเข้าไปในป่าหลังอบต.กบินทร์และมุ่งหน้าไปยังบ้านเรือนประชาชน
ช้างป่าตัวดังกล่าวได้พังกำแพงบ้านได้เดินเข้าไปป่ามะม่วงหลังบ้านของนางสมใจ แมกคอย เลขที่ 1/3 หมู่ 8 ต.กบินทร์ อ.กบินทร์บุรี จ.ปราจีนบุรี
จากนั้นช้างเดินเฉียดเข้าไปในบ้านหลังดังกล่าวสร้างความตกใจ-เขย่าขวัญ! ให้กับเจ้าของบ้านและญาติ
ก่อนที่ช้างจะเดินผละออกข้างบ้านมุ่งหน้าไปยังกำแพงปูนหน้าบ้าน พร้อมกันได้พังกำแพงปูนสูง 2 เมตรพังอีก แล้วเดินข้ามออกไปเข้าป่ายางพาราของชาวบ้าน
และเดินลัดเลาะกำแพงรั้วบ้านของนายสันติ เราหะหลินนุรักษ์ ชาวบ้านหมู่ที่ 2 ต.กบินทร์ อ.กบืนทร์บุรี จ.ปราจีนบุรีสร้างความแตกตื่นให้กับทางผู้ใหญ่บ้านและชุดติดตามช้างอย่างมาก
ช้างป่าตัวดังกล่าวเดินหาตำแหน่งที่จะพังกำแพงเพื่อหนีออกมาทางด้านนอกเนื่องจากกำแพงปูนสูง 3 เมตรเท่ากับตัวช้าง
เมื่อเดินทางมาถึงทางด้านทิศตะวันออก ซึ่งมีคันดินเสริมขึ้นมาสูงประมาณ 2 เมตรเศษ ช้างป่าตัวดังกล่าวใช้หัวดันกำแพงปูน 3 ครั้ง จนกำแพงปูนพังครืนถล่มราบลง แล้วเดินข้ามฝ่าออกจากกำแพงปูนลงไปทุ่งนา และซุกตัวอยู่ในป่าขณะนี้ยังไม่มีใครพบเห็นตัวช้างว่าหลบอยู่บริเวณใด
นายชูเดช นาบุญเรือง ผู้ใหญ่บ้านหมู่ที่ 8 ต.กบินทร์ กล่าวว่า เมื่อช่วงเช้าวันนี้(2ม.ค.) ได้รับแจ้งจากนายสมใจ พุฒิสังข์ กำนันตำบลกบินทร์ อ.กบินทร์บุรี จ.ปราจีนบุรี ว่าได้รับแจ้งจากสารวัตรกำนัน และ สมาชิกสภาองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล (สอ.บต.) พบเห็นช้างป่าคาดว่าจะเป็นช้างป่าจากเขตรักษาสัตว์ป่าเขาอ่างฤาไน จ.ฉะเชิงเทรา (ในผืนป่าราบต่ำแห่งสุดท้ายของพื้นที่ป่ารอยต่อ5จังหสุดภาคตะวันออก จ.ฉะเชิงเทรา จ.สีะแก้ว จ.ชลบุรี จ.จันทบุรี และ จ.ระยอง) ที่ข้ามเขตเข้ามาหากินในพื้นที่ ต.เขาไม้แก้ว อ.กบินทร์บุรี จ.ปราจีนบุรี ก่อนปีใหม่ที่ผ่านมา และแตกฝูงออกมาหากินในพื้นที่ชั้นใน ซึ่งเป็นย่าน-นิคมอุตสาหกรรม-เศรษฐกิจและชุมชนเมือง และหาทางกลับเส้นทางเดิม ซึ่งเคยมาหากิน-วงจรเดิมบริเวณนี้เมื่อ 2 ปีที่ผ่านมา
ล่าสุด ขณะนี้ช้างป่าตัวดังกล่าวลงไปหลบอยู่ที่ชายทุ่งหลังวัดทุ่งแฝก ซึ่งมีสภาพป่า ยังไม่มีใครพบเห็นช้างป่าตัวดังกล่าว โดยทางกำนันและผู้ใหญ่บ้านได้จัดกำลังดูอยู่เป็นจุดๆและประสานเจ้าหน้าที่ชุดติดตามช้างเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาอ่างฤไน จ.ฉะเชิงเทราให้ทราบแล้ว

ปัญหาช้างป่าออกนอกผืนป่าของ จ.ปราจีนบุรี ที่มีประกอบด้วยพื้นที่หลักๆได้แก่ อ.นาดี แถบ ต.ทุ่งโพธิ์,ต.วัแก่งดินสอ เป็นช้างป่าจากอุทย่นแห่งชาติทับลานมรดกโลก
พื้นที่ อ.กบินทร์บุรี ต.วังท่าช้าง ,ต.เขาไม้แก้ว พื้นที่ อ.ศรีมหาโพธิ เป็นช้างป่าออกนอกพื้นที่ข้ามจังหวัดมาจากผืนป่าในเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาอ่างฤาไน จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา (ในพื้นที่ลุ่มต่ำผืนสุดท้ายในป่ารอยต่อ 5 จังหวัดภาคตะวันออก จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา,จังหวัดสระแก้ว,จังหวัดชลบุรี,จังหวัดจันทบุรีและจังหวัดระยอง)
ซึ่งปัญหาช้างป่า โดยเฉพาะช้างป่าเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาอ่างฤาไนนั้น มีมาเนิ่นนานนับ 30 ปี ที่ผ่านมา
ระยะแรกมีเพียงแค่ในพื้นที่ ที่ช้างป่าออกจากพื้นที่มานอกเขตอำเภอสนามสนามชัยเขต,อำเภอท่าตะเกียบ
จนต้องมีการสร้างคู-รั้วกั้นช้างป่า แต่ไม่สามารถยับยั้งได้ เนื่องจากสาเหตุหลักๆคือ จำนวนประชากรของช้างป่าที่เพิ่มทวีสูงมากขึ้น แต่แหล่งอาหาร ที่อยู่ แหล่งน้ำ มีจำกัด
มีการแก้ไข ปิด-เปิด เส้นทางผ่านผืนป่าในเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าเขาอ่างฤาไน หลังจากมีปัญหาช้างป่าถูกรถชน สัตว์ป่าดักปล้นรถขนอ้อย-มันสําปะหลัง-สับปะรด ช้างทำร้ายคน
แต่ในช่วง 10 ปี ที่ผ่านมา ช้างป่า พากันออกนอกพื้นที่มากขึ้นและกระจายโดยรอบผืนป่าทั้ง 5 จังหวัด และพากันมาแบบทั้งยกโขลงเป็นร้อยตัว,มาเดี่ยว และมีแนวโน้มกลายเป็นสัตว์ประจำถิ่น มาแล้วไม่กลับคืนที่เดิมเนื่องจากในพื้นที่หากินใหม่มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ ทั้งสวนผลไม้, ไร่มันสําปะหลัง, ไร่อ้อย, ไร่ข้าวโพด, นาข้าว, ป่ากล้วย ตลอดจนแหล่งน้ำ
โดยสภาพปัญหา ในพื้นที่จังหวัดปราจีนบุรี พื้นที่มักยกโขลงมากันสม่ำเสมอได้แก่ ตำบลวังท่าช้าง, ตำบลเขาไม้แก้ว อำเภอกบินทร์บุรี และอำเภอศรีมหาโพธิ โดยจะพากันข้ามฝั่งจากถนนสายสระแก้วตัดใหม่ (สระแก้ว-พนมสารคาม) หรือสาย 359 ซึ่งเป็นพื้นที่รอยต่อกัน
โดยมีผลขัดแย้งกับชาวบ้านในพื้นที่ อาทิ ช้างป่าถูกรถชนบาดเจ็บ-ตาย ขณะข้ามถนน,ช้างบุกรุกพืชสวนไร่นาพื้นที่การเกษตร,การพังบ้านเรือน,การทำร้ายประชาชน-เจ้าหน้าที่รับบาดเจ็บหรือเสียชีวิต,ช้างถูกไฟช็อตตาย เป็นต้น
